ABOUT THE OWNER
Prior To The Plate AgriTours was founded by Heather Coffelt to provide people the opportunity to visit farms and connect with farmers.
Heather grew up on a large crop farm in Stewart, MN where she experienced the typical farm kid lifestyle – pulling weeds, picking rock, delivering corn/soybeans to grain elevators, etc. Her parents and brothers (along with their families) continue to operate the 5th-generation family farm. Throughout her career, Heather held a variety of roles at Cargill, Inc. and Market 1. The most fulfilling roles were working directly with farmers - building relationships and working together to accomplish goals. She recognized many of the unique stories of agriculture and was compelled to share with others, thus creating Prior to the Plate.
Utilizing Heather’s connections to the agriculture community, Prior to the Plate provides people the opportunity to experience, connect and engage with Minnesota agriculture by visiting farms and agriculture businesses. Heather’s passion for sharing agriculture’s stories is what continues to drive her today.
